Skills in WoW will work differently than they do in other games such as Diablo 2. The major difference in advancing skills is that you do not spend skillpoints to increase the level of the skill. Each class will be given primary skills which they automatically recieve, and also secondary skills. There will be skillpoints in WoW which you recieve upon leveling up, but instead of using them to level up a specific skill, they are simply used to purchase them from a trainer. Once you have obtained a skill, you then level it up simply by using it. The more you use it, the higher in level it will get.

 

Skill Types

Skills in W.o.W. will be broken up into three types of skills, each working slightly differently. Each class will have its standard set of base skills, inherent to all players of the specific class. There are also Secondary skills and Talents. Secondary skills are like Trade Skills from other MMORPGs; alchemy, forging, and engineering for example. Talents are class specific skills used to enhance a feature of your character, such as health or mana regeneration, or specialization in a particular weapon.

 

The following is a complete list of all known primary skills in WoW. For now this section will simply be a list of skill names and brief descriptions because there is very little specific information regarding each skill, but in the future we will have descriptions, stats, requirements, mana/endurance costs, and all other information for every skill.

 

Sort by class: Warrior - Mage - Shaman - Warlock - Druid - Hunter - Rogue - Priest - Paladin - All

Aggressive Stance - (Warrior) Increases your attack power.

 

Ambient Form - (Druid) Morphs your druid into a neutral animal (critter) like a rabbit, which is undetectable. Monsters will not attack you and players will have to target you manually like any other critter. Good for scouting.

 

Ancenstral Healing - (Shaman) A strong healing spell that is used outside of combat.

 

Anti-Magic - (Warlock) Makes the user temporarily invulnerable to magic attacks.

 

Arcane Intelect - (?) ?

 

Axe Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with axes.

 

Backstab - (Rogue) Gives a bonus to damage when attacking from behind.

 

Bark Skin - (Shaman) Increases defense of the target.

 

Battle Shout - (Warrior) Increase the attack power of the warrior and his party.

 

Bear Form - (Druid) Morphs your druid into a bear which is much more powerful. In bear form you can use special skills that are only active while in bear form.

 

Beast Soothe - (Hunter) Allows the hunter to soothe wild beasts and put them to sleep.

 

Beast Taming - (Hunter) Allows the hunter to tame a wild beast which will grow to be the hunter's companion.

 

Beast Tracking - (Hunter) Makes beasts show up on your minimap while tracking. The Hunter walks slower and cannot attack while this skill is in use.

 

Blizzard - (Mage) An area of effect attack spell that rains shards of ice on anything in the target area.

 

Bloodlust - (Shaman) Increases attack power of the target.

 

Bolt of Fire - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Cat Form - (Druid) Morphs your druid into a cat which attacks much faster. In cat form you can use special skills that are only active while in cat form.

 

Chain Lightning - (Shaman) Strikes the target with a bolt of lightning which can jump to other targets a limited number of times.

 

Chains of Ice - (Mage) Temporarily traps the target within shards of ice.

 

Combat Mastery - (Warrior) Increases general combat skills.

 

Condor Form - (Druid) Morphs your druid into a condor which moves much faster. In condor form you can use special skills that are only active while in condor form. Cannot attack in this form.

 

Conjure Food - (?) ?

 

Corruption - (Warlock) Corrupts the target temporarily reducing evade, hit percentage, etc.

 

Crippling Blow - (Warrior) Enhances the effectiveness of your warrior's weapon. May disable the enemy for a round.

 

Death Coil - (Warlock) Hits target with dark energy, damaging it. Also heals the caster.

 

Death Touch - (?) ?

 

Defend - (Warrior) Increase your armor effectiveness against ranged attacks.

 

Defensive Stance - (Warrior) Increases your defense.

 

Demoralizing Shout - (Warrior) Frightens enemies away.

 

Devotion Aura - (Paladin) Increases the defense of all nearby friendly players.

 

Dismember - (Warrior) Enhances the damage of pole arm type weapons.

 

Divine Shield - (Paladin) Renders the caster invulnerable for a period of time.

 

Drain Life - (Warlock) Drains life from the enemy to restore the warlock's health.

 

Drain Mana - (Warlock) Drains life from the enemy to restore the warlock's health.

 

Drain Mana - (Warlock) Drains mana from the enemy to restore the warlock's energy.

 

Dual Wield - (Rogue) Allows the player to use two weapons at once.

 

Earthquake - (Shaman) Area of effect spell which causes the ground to shake, damaging enemies.

 

Enchant - (Paladin) Temporarily imbues a target weapon with magical power.

 

Entangling Roots - (Shaman) Ensnares the target with roots which spring from the ground.

 

Faerie Fire - (Druid) Makes enemies easier to see and attack. Lowers enemy armor and dodge rate.

 

Fiery Blast - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Fire Bolt - (Mage, Warlock) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Fire Shield - (Mage) Wraps the caster in flames which damage melee attackers.

 

Fire Strike - (?) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Fireball - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Flaming Touch - (Shaman) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Follow Through - (Warrior) Your next attack will deal more damage.

 

Freeze - (Mage) Freezes an enemy in its tracks and damages it.

 

Frost Armor - (Mage) Increase defense of the caster and slows down melee attackers.

 

Frost Blast - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with ice.

 

Frost Bolt - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with ice.

 

Frost Plating - (Mage) Stronger version of Frost Armor.

 

Frozen Finger - (Mage) Slows the movement of an enemy by freezing it.

 

Grappling Flame - (Shaman) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Heal - (Shaman, Druid, Priest) Heals the targeted character.

 

Holy Light - (Paladin) A targeted healing spell.

 

Icy Prison - (Shaman) Freezes the enemy with in a block of ice which shatters when attacked.

 

Immolate - (Shaman, Warlock) Wraps the caster in flames which damage melee attackers.

 

Impale - (Warrior) Used in conjunction with piercing weapons. Makes enemies bleed and lose health.

 

Inferno - (Mage) Projects a continuous stream of flame that damages enemies.

 

Invisibility - (Mage) Renders the targeted character invisible.

 

Life Tap - (Mage, Warlock) Drains an enemy's life to restore your own.

 

Lightning Bolt - (Shaman) Hits a single enemy with lightning.

 

Lightning Shield - (Shaman) Surrounds the caster with bolts of lightning which damage melee attackers.

 

Mace Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with maces.

 

Mana Tap - (Mage, Warlock) Drains an enemy's mana to restore your own.

 

Molten Blast - (Shaman) Hits enemies with a blast of molten rock from the earth.

 

Numb - (Mage) Slows down enemy movement.

 

Phase Shift - (Mage) Teleports the mage a short distance.

 

Piercing Mastery - (Hunter) Increases your character's skill with piercing weapons (i.e. daggers).

 

Polymorph - (Mage) Turns the targeted enemy into a sheep which cannot attack or cast spells.

 

Power Stance - (Warrior) Increases your chance of landing a critical strike.

 

Purge - (Shaman) Removes all buffs from a target and slows it down temporarily.

 

Rain of Fire - (Mage) An area of effect attack similar to Blizzard, but with balls of flame.

 

Ranged Mastery - (Hunter) Increases your character's skill with ranged weapons.

 

Reckless Strike - (Warrior) Doubles the damage you deal out, but decreases your defense.

 

Rejuvenation - (Druid) Heals a target over time.

 

Restoration - (Shaman) Heals a target over time.

 

Rock Skin - (Shaman) A stronger version of Bark Skin.

 

Scorching Blast - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with scorching flame.

 

Shadow Word: Pain - (Priest) Damages the targeted unit continuously over a period of time.

 

Shield Bash - (Warrior) Hits an enemy with your shield, temporarily stunning it.

 

Sleep - (Warlock) Puts an enemy to sleep until it is attacked.

 

Sleep - (Priest) Puts the targeted unit to sleep.

 

Slice and Dice - (Warrior) Attack twice in one turn.

 

Soul Tap - (Warlock) Drains some of the warlock's health to recover the health of a summoned pet.

 

Spirit Armor - (Shaman) Increases target's defense against magic attacks.

 

Stealth - (Rogue) Renders the player invisible.

 

Streak of Fire - (Mage) Hits a single enemy with fire.

 

Summon Fellhound - (Warlock) Summons a fellhound to aid you.

 

Summon Imp - (Warlock) Summons an imp to aid you.

 

Summon Infernal - (Warlock) Summons a powerful Infernal to aid you.

 

Summon Succubus - (Warlock) Summons a succubus to aid you.

 

Summon Voidwalker - (Warlock) Summons a voidwalker to aid you.

 

Summon Water Elemental - (Mage) Summons a water elemental to aid you.

 

Sword Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with swords.

 

Two-Handed Axe Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with two-handed axes.

 

Two-Handed Mace Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with two-handed maces.

 

Two-Handed Sword Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill with two-handed swords.

 

Unarmed Mastery - (Warrior) Increases your character's skill in unarmed combat.

 

Whirlwind - (Warrior) Sends the warrior into a rage, creating a destructive force that damages any enemy that is inside the area of effect.

 

Word of Recall - (Mage) Teleports the mage to the last active bind stone.
